PROJECT 1
ANALYSIS REPORT
(SULTAN ABDUL SAMAD BUILDING)
The first group project for Architectural History and Theory module was quite fun and adventurous. The analysis of the project was on Sultan Abdul Samad Building which is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We were sorted in groups to work as a team and come up with various inputs about the building such as materials incorporated in the construction, Architects behind the marvel, foreground and purpose for the structure, centre of attraction, design principles and concepts.
The main focus of the project was to incorporate team work, understanding between team members and workspace. We successfully brought forth all the necessary details required for the analysis and was satisfied with the output.
Our project had a balance between hand drawn sketches and analysis and digital inputs where the digital inputs was the A1 sized poster we had compiled together as a team and off site we had produced hand draw sketches of the buildings plan and attractions.
The overall experience of the project was fun as we mad alot of visit to our site and hanged out with our team alot developing a sense of understanding and bond between eachother.
PROJECT 2 :
SKETCHING ANALYSIS
Project 2 for Architectural History & Theory consisted of several sections where choices were given to us to choose our own buildings or sites for our sketchbook. The sketchbook analysis was a section in our module where five different time period sites would be given to us and we had to brief them on the basis of the purpose, Architects involved in the construction, materials used in the costruction, if there wwre any renovations in the past etc, while we follow the design orientation principles for a better aesthetic presentation.
My personal choice of buildings or site were the Stonehenges, located in England, The great temple of Ramesses II, located in Egypt, The parthenon, located in Rome, La Sagrada Familia, located in Barcelona and finally Chiesa del Gesu, located in Rome. In my process of completing my sketchbook, I went through alot of emotions while i was drawing each of the sites or buildings as each one of them had different yet unique qualities that helped me unlock alot of skills.
